Seattle, December 7, 2017: The Seattle Seawolves and Head Coach Tony Healy are thrilled to announce the signing of USA Eagles veteran, Mike Palefau. “We are excited to have quality men and players like Mike.” said Coach Healy.
“His experience, game intelligence, and leadership will be important to building our team culture and team’s success.” Palefau is ready for the season,
saying, “I’m grateful for the opportunity. I’ve been waiting for a long time for Seattle to get back into the American rugby scene.”
Born in Kahuku, Hawaii, Palefau began playing rugby at 18 years old after excelling as a sprinter on the track team and a defensive back in football. From
there he attended Southern Utah University where he was selected as collegiate All-American for his skills in rugby and later made his 2005 international
debut with both the Eagles 7s & 15s squad. Palefau added more international experience to his resume after competing with RC Narbonne in France
from 2006 to 2007 and Petrarca Rugby in Italy from 2007 to 2008 before returning to the USA to win a D1 Club National Championship with the Las Vegas
Blackjacks in 2010. He was the Eagles team’s leading try scorer and points scorer for the 2011-12 IRB Sevens World Series and had 28 appearances with
the national team from 2005 to 2014. He captained the Seattle Saracens 7s squad at the 2014 World Club 7s Championship and most recently competed with
the Washington Athletic Club at the 2017 Club 7s National Championship alongside teammates Shalom Suniula and Aladdin Schirmer.
Palefau’s extensive experience and proven leadership will be tremendous assets to the Seattle Seawolves.
We are proud to welcome Mike Palefau to the Seattle Seawolves.
