SEATTLE –The Seattle Seawolves are excited to announce the signing of former Southern King, Stephan Coetzee.
Stephan comes to Seattle by way of a dominantly professional rugby background. In his teenage years, he made a splash for Wester Provincial select
sides and ultimately was selected into the Western Province Rugby Institute. His senior debut came in 2013 for Western Province. In 2014, he got
his first Super Rugby opportunity to suit up for the Stormers for a season before moving to the Cheetahs. Coetzee continued in the Super Rugby
system, but with the Sharks through 2017, totaling his Super Rugby cap count at 21. After the Southern Kings made a league switch, Coetzee left
Super Rugby competition and joined the Kings where he competed in the Pro14 and made 18 appearances for the Kings. His technical skills and international
experience provides the Seawolves yet another weapon heading into the 2019 Major League Rugby season.
“It’s an honor to join the Major League Rugby Champions, the Seattle Seawolves,” said Coetzee. “I am excited to meet my new teammates and for our first
game in front of our dedicated fans.”
