The Seattle Seawolves added three young talents to the organization Thursday night, selecting scrum-half Solomon Williams, winger David Cathcart and lock Tristan Hubsch in the 2026 Major League Rugby College Draft.
Seattle opened the draft with one of the most accomplished players in collegiate rugby before adding a proven try scorer and a decorated forward to round out its 2026 class.
2nd Overall Pick | Round 1
With the second overall pick, the Seawolves selected Solomon Williams, a scrum-half from the University of California, Berkeley.
Williams arrives in Seattle following a standout collegiate career highlighted by winning the 2026 Rudy Scholz Award, recognizing the top men's collegiate rugby player in the United States. He also earned First Team All-American honors three times during his career at Cal.
The California product brings experience beyond the collegiate game as well, having represented the United States through the U18, U20 and U23 pathways.
Williams' combination of distribution, tempo, attacking ability and experience in high-performance environments made him one of the premier prospects in the 2026 draft class.
Director of Rugby Allen Clarke believes Williams has the tools to continue developing at the professional level.

For Williams, Seattle represents the next step after an accomplished career at one of the country's premier collegiate rugby programs.
7th Overall Pick | Round 2
With the seventh overall selection, Seattle added David Cathcart, a winger from Lindenwood University.
Originally from Scotland, Cathcart developed his rugby foundation before bringing his game to the United States and joining Lindenwood.
His final collegiate campaign included 2026 First Team All-Conference honors, while his ability to finish opportunities helped him emerge as the Midwest Conference's leading try scorer.
Cathcart's pace, attacking instincts and experience competing against top collegiate opposition give the Seawolves another young option on the outside.
For Cathcart, joining Seattle also represents the realization of a long-term goal to take his game into the professional ranks.
12th Overall Pick | Round 3
Seattle completed its draft class by selecting Tristan Hubsch with the 12th overall pick.
The Life University lock brings extensive experience from one of the country's leading collegiate rugby programs.
A native of Pretoria, South Africa, Hubsch earned back-to-back D1A All-American recognition during his collegiate career and was part of Life University's national collegiate 7s championship success.
His background in South African rugby, experience at Life and ability to contribute in the forward pack give Seattle another developmental prospect with a strong foundation.
Clarke sees similar upside in both Cathcart and Hubsch as they begin their professional careers.
