TUKWILA, WASHINGTON (April 1, 2021) – The Seattle Seawolves have signed USA Eagle No. 418 and former Montpellier center, Setareki “Seta” Tuilevuka.
Born in Suva, Fiji, Tuilevuka grew up around the game of rugby and began playing at a young age. Moving to the states and becoming USA eligible, Tuilevuka
played for the Las Vegas Blackjacks before becoming the first amateur player coming from the United States to sign a professional contract to a Top
14 French club from an amateur club. The center joined Montpellier in 2010 and played with them through 2012, making 16 appearances and scoring 10
points. Tuilevuka was brought into the USA Eagles in 2010, playing his sole test match starting in a win over Portugal. After his time with Montpellier,
Tuilevuka shifted to Pro D2 competition and joined Béziers from 2012-14 for 22 appearances and 5 points scored. Another move within the French rugby
scene in 2014 was a long-term one to ROC La Voulte-Valence of the Fédérale 1 league, where he clocked 2,200 minutes of play for the club up until the
pause of rugby globally due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tuilevuka returns to the states for his debut in Major League Rugby (MLR) with Seattle. The shifty
backline player has already been adding value in the Seawolves camp the past few weeks with his experience and is excited for what lies ahead.
“I’m just blessed to join a great organization with the Seawolves,” said Tuilevuka. “And to play some good rugby in a fledging league.”
The Seattle Seawolves have a BYE in week three of MLR and will return to regular season play on April 10, traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah to face the Utah Warriors. Kick off at Zion Bank Stadium will be at 6:00 PM PT on Saturday, April 10. Viewers inside the United States can tune in live on ROOT SPORTS and The Rugby Network .
