Esdale is no stranger to the highest levels of competition. After representing USA Rugby Sevens at the 2024 Paris Olympics, he is now returning to Major League Rugby, bringing his experience from the world stage to Seattle.
In his interview with Aaron Levine, Esdale reflected on the energy of the Olympics, competing in front of 80,000+ fans in France, and how he hopes to see rugby reach similar heights in the United States.
"The experience was unbelievable… Rugby on an international scale is something special, and I know American fans are going to love it as the sport continues to grow."
Esdale previously played in MLR with the Houston SaberCats before stepping away from the league. Now, as he rejoins in 2025, he sees significant growth in the competition, professionalism, and game-day experience.
"MLR has taken leaps and bounds forward. Everything has leveled up—from how teams operate to how fans engage with the game. I’m excited to be back and be part of that growth."
The Seattle Seawolves have established themselves as one of MLR’s most successful franchises, making the championship game in two of the last three seasons. Now, with Esdale’s explosive speed and experience, they hope to take the next step toward another title.
"I bring excitement to the game. My speed is definitely a factor, but Seattle already has a strong identity. I’m here to add my piece and help push us over the top."
