The Seattle Seawolves have signed Canadian international forward Callum Botchar ahead of the 2026 Major League Rugby season, adding size, versatility, and test-level experience to the forward pack.
Born in Ottawa and raised in Vancouver, Callum brings a rugby background shaped through Canada’s national pathway system and overseas competition. He developed within the Pacific Pride academy and represented Canada at age-grade level before progressing into the senior international environment.
Head Coach Allen Clarke spoke about the addition and what Callum brings to the group.
“Callum is an excellent addition to the Seawolves. His physicality, accuracy, and determination make him a valuable asset. Having already gained experience in international competition with Canada, he is at an ideal stage in his development. We’re excited to see Callum’s growth and impact on the squad in 2026.”
Callum made his senior international debut for Canada in 2022 and has since earned multiple test caps. That exposure to test rugby has helped shape a forward comfortable in physical contests and high-pressure environments, with a strong emphasis on defensive work and consistency.
At club level, Callum has gained valuable professional experience in Major League Rugby, featuring across two seasons and establishing himself as a reliable contributor. Known for his work rate and physical presence, he has consistently delivered in contact and around the breakdown, while also offering lineout value and positional flexibility.
Standing 6’4” and weighing approximately 245 pounds, Callum provides options across the back row and at lock. His combination of size, athleticism, and rugby intelligence allows him to contribute in multiple roles, adding depth and competition within the Seawolves forward unit.
Prior to his time in MLR, Callum also spent a season in New Zealand, playing with New Plymouth Old Boys and within the Taranaki development system. That experience further broadened his game and strengthened his understanding of forward play at a high level.
For Callum, the move to Seattle represents a new opportunity within a competitive environment.
“Grateful for the opportunity to be able to join the Seawolves. Really special that it’s so close to home. Can’t wait to bring the shield back to the Pacific North West.”
We look forward to welcoming Callum to Seattle and seeing him in green and blue as preparations begin for the 2026 season.
