TUKWILA, WA – Conner Mooneyham made MLR history when he was selected as the #1 pick in the inaugural 2020 MLR Collegiate Draft. In his first two seasons, Mooneyham made a strong impact in the starting lineup for the Austin Gilgronis and was named to Americas Rugby News Team of the Week three times and awarded MLR’s Try of the Week once.
Mooneyham began playing rugby when he was 12 years old in Northern California. At Life University, he led the team to win the 2016 & 2018 D1A Collegiate Rugby National Championship. He was named to the Collegiate All-American second team and was part of the D1A 1st Team All-Mid-South Conference in 2020.
“As a young USA player, Conner exudes fantastic energy, competitiveness, pace, and the try scoring ability required in the modern-day game to become a top-class winger in the MLR and on the international stage. What excites me most is his ambition and determination to become the best he can possibly be. We’re delighted to welcome Conner, his wife Morgan & their new-born son Myles to the Seawolves family,” said Seawolves Director of Rugby and Head Coach Allen Clarke.
“Becoming part of the Seawolves means getting to play for some of the original USMLR fans. My little family is so excited for our move up to Seattle and for the next phase in my career,” said Mooneyham.
The 2023 Seawolves Rugby season is set to kick off in February 2023 with preseason matches before the MLR regular season begins. Fans can purchase 2023 full and half season memberships here.
